“Do Your Best for God!” – 2 Timothy 2:15
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved… who correctly handles the word of truth.”
— 2 Timothy 2:15 (NIV)
Introduction: God Loves When We Try Our Best!
Good morning, everyone!
Have you ever tried really hard at something—like homework, sports, or cleaning your room?
When we do our best, it makes our parents and teachers happy.
Did you know it also makes God happy when we try our best for Him?
Today’s Bible verse teaches us that God wants us to:
- Love Him
- Learn His Word
- And do our best every day
Let’s learn how!
What Does 2 Timothy 2:15 Mean?
The Apostle Paul wrote this verse to a young leader named Timothy.
He was teaching Timothy how to follow God well.
Here’s what it means in kid-friendly words:
1. “Do Your Best”
God doesn’t ask us to be perfect.
He asks us to try our hardest!
- Try to be kind
- Try to obey
- Try to pray
- Try to learn about Jesus
When you try, God smiles
📖 2. “Learn God’s Word”
God wants us to know the Bible.
The Bible teaches us:
- How to love others
- How to forgive
- How to follow Jesus
- How to make good choices
When we read the Bible, God speaks to us!
3. “Use It the Right Way”
This verse says “handle the Word of truth correctly.”
That means:
We don’t just read the Bible—we live it out!
Example:
- If the Bible says “Be kind,” → We are kind.
- If it says “Forgive,” → We forgive.
- If it says “Love,” → We love.
We show God’s Word with our actions!
Object Lesson: Building Your Life on God’s Word
(Optional: Use blocks, cups, or LEGO)
Let’s pretend these blocks are your life.
Each block stands for:
- Praying
- Reading the Bible
- Being kind
- Obeying parents
- Helping others
When we build our life on God’s Word, it’s strong!
But if we don’t listen to God…
(pretend it falls)
Uh-oh!
God’s Word helps us stand strong—even when life is hard.
Big Idea to Remember
Let’s say this together:
“I will do my best for God and follow His Word!”
(Repeat 2–3 times with motions!)
- “I” (Point to yourself)
- “Do my best” (Thumbs up)
- “For God” (Point up)
- “Follow His Word” (Open hands like a Bible)
