John 13:17 (Have kids read) John 17:3-5 Jesus washes feet (God becomes servant)

Jesus wanted to be sure the disciples knew why he had washed their feet.
Why do you think he did it? (By his actions He was showing love and teaching truth.)
What truth do you think he was trying to teach them? If Jesus (God) is willing to be a servant and wash his disciples’ feet. We should be humble and serve others too.
God wants us to serve others because this action shows love for them.
What does the word humble mean? HUMBLE, Meek, Lowly, respectful.
GOD WANTS US TO BE LIKE THIS.
Opposite is arrogant, proud, egotistical, overconfident, self important, bigheaded
GOD DOES NOT LIKE THESE THINGS.
John 13:17 If you know these things, you will be happy if you do them.
KNOW RIGHT, DO RIGHT, FEEL RIGHT.
Order of process;
Can you do what is right if you don’t know what is right?
(Sometime, but you can never be certain.)
Can you feel right just by knowing right?
Can you Feel right if you are doing what is wrong?
Satan deceives you with temporary good feelings, but they will not last, and lead you to feeling worse later.
Examples; yelling at someone, fighting, drugs,
Should you base how you feel on how others treat you?
Do others always treat you good, at school, at the park, those you call friends? Sometimes kids are not treated right at home too.
You should base how we feel on knowing God cares about you, gave his Son for you [you are that important to him] You should learn what is right [Know] and put it into action [Do]
people that base their feelings on outside things (how others treat them, how well they do at school, how they think they look (appearance) can get depressed (very sad)
Satan wants you to not like yourself. He doesn’t want you to be happy, he wants to destroy you. He might try getting you to think about taking your own life….
Never think you aren’t good enough, smart enough or pretty enough… that is just Satan trying to bring you down
