childrens church – Kids Ministry Resources http://kidsministryresource.com Sat, 19 Jan 2019 06:36:07 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.5.3 How to Use Magic Tricks to Teach Church Kids http://kidsministryresource.com/index.php/2019/01/19/how-to-use-magic-tricks-to-teach-church-kids/ Sat, 19 Jan 2019 03:27:54 +0000 http://kidsministryresource.com/?p=137 Using optical illusions or so called “magic tricks” can be an extremely effective way to reinforce your Sunday school lesson. The magic will keep the children focused and listening intently. The teacher will be able to drive the point of the lesson home and make it memorable. This article will give you some basic principles to using “magic” in your classroom.

Pick your trick.
Select an illusion that can be related to the lesson you are teaching. For instance when something disappears you can make a point that Jesus wipes your sins away and are gone forever; when something appears, talk about how Jesus is coming back and no one knows when. There are several different kind of tricks out there; visit my links below to check out all there is to offer … think about how you can use a trick to teach a lesson. It will take a little thought on your part but it will pay-off when the students have a lesson stuck in their mind.

Practice the trick. The old saying “practice makes perfect” is as true today as when it was first said. Nothing can turn your audience off as quick as a poorly performed trick- one that doesn’t work or gives away the trick. The students will find the trick boring or corny. So practice it along with what you will be saying as you perform, you will be glad you did.

Perform the trick. Performing your trick takes plenty of practice as stated above. The performance should be well thought out. Your teaching points should be timed just right throughout. Your performance should be exciting and interactive with your audience; talk to them and ask questions if possible. Make sure you are performing far enough away that the secret to your trick is not revealed; some tricks are made for close-up and some for stage distance, be sure you are aware of this when you perform.

Game: Helping Children Find God http://kidsministryresource.com/index.php/2018/04/12/game-helping-children-find-god/ Thu, 12 Apr 2018 00:15:07 +0000 http://kidsministryresource.com/?p=40 Sunday school teachers are always looking for new game ideas to use in children’s church.  “Find God” is a new game created to help children understand that God is always there. This game will be fun and exciting for the kids as they search for God. This article will provide Children’s Ministers and teachers the basic instructions on how to play the game and give some ideas on the lessons that can be taught along with it.

For the purpose of this game God is represented by a  softball or other small object.

Find God is a game in which the Sunday school class will search for a hidden object (God).

Choose an area to play  the game.  You will need a space that has many hiding places (for instance: I use all the classes in the Sunday school department).

Show the object to the students and announce to them they will be  playing a very exciting game;

they will get to Find God.  Make sure that the children are not in the area that “God” will be hidden.

Have an assistant hide the object.

Get the kids ready to play the game.  When you say “Go” they will search for the object.

Let the children know that the one that finds God will get a special prize and will also get to hide God for the next game.  You can play this game over as many times as you choose.

When the game has ended, reassemble the children for a lesson.

Tell the children that the real God isn’t hiding.

Some lesson  topics to use with this game include:

Salvation (knowing and having a relationship with God)

Prayer  (communicate with God)

Creation (seeing God’s work)
