Laminate paper (optional)
Children’s artwork
Student pictures & bio
Schedule of Events
Promotional paragraph
Every time your church has a community dinner, holiday banquet, Easter breakfast or other event where a meal is served- it is an opportunity to promote the children’s ministry. When you advertise properly you will see parents get excited about involving their kids in church, and actively inviting others to bring their kids to church.
Each Sunday school student can create several placemats over the course of the year so that you will have plenty available when the time comes to use them. Make sure you get the okay from the Pastor or event coordinator to use advertising placemats. If you are not familiar with using a computer to create things, there might be someone within your church that is. Seek help if needed.
Step 1
Write a short paragraph that promotes the children’s ministry, three to five sentences would be ideal. For example- “Lifeline Connect Church offers an exciting children’s ministry packed full of fun games, terrific crafts, and life-changing lessons that promote character and positive social interaction. Your child will never want to miss this Sunday school experience.”-would be a great, short description to put on the placemat.
Step 2
Create a student survey. The survey should have a place for the students name and include fields to answer the following questions: What do you like about Sunday School?
What do you like to do outside? What do you like to do at home? What is your favorite thing to eat? Help younger children fill out the survey by asking the question and writing in their answers.
Step3
Create child bio’s using the survey. The bio should be six sentences or fewer and highlight the Sunday school student.
Here is an example.
“Corey has been in our Sunday school for two years. He enjoys the crafts and games played during Sunday school. His favorite thing to do is play Mario Cart on his Wii. He likes to watch Disney movies and collects baseball cards. Corey can quote his take-home Bible verse almost every week and is very engaged in learning about God. We are thankful he is a part of our Sunday school class.”
