Bible Verse (5 minutes)
Key Verse: “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” (Luke 6:31, NIV)

Story Time (10 minutes)
Bible Story: David and Jonathan’s Friendship (1 Samuel 18:1–4; 20:16–42)
Tell the story of David and Jonathan, focusing on their loyal and selfless friendship.
Highlight how Jonathan helped David even when it was hard because he cared about him.
Discussion (10 minutes)
Ask guiding questions:
How did Jonathan show kindness to David?
Why is it important to help our friends, even when it’s not easy?
What are some ways you can be a good friend, sibling, or classmate?
Share examples of good relationships:
Kindness: Saying kind words and sharing.
Respect: Listening to others and valuing their ideas.
Forgiveness: Saying sorry and letting go of grudges.
Activity (10 minutes)
“Friendship Chain” Craft:
Provide paper strips and markers.
Have each child write ways they can show kindness or build strong relationships on the strips.
Link the strips together to form a “Friendship Chain” to hang in the classroom.
Closing (5 minutes)
Summarize: God wants us to have loving and caring relationships with others. We can show His love by being kind, forgiving, and helpful.
Closing prayer: Thank God for our family, friends, and the people who care about us. Ask for help in being a good friend to others.
Take-Home Activity
Provide each child with a “Relationship Challenge Card” listing simple actions like:
Say something kind to a friend.
Share your toys or snacks.
Pray for someone you care about.
Encourage them to complete as many as they can during the week.
